Former House/Years: Hufflepuff, 95-02 Character History: Laura Róisín Madley was born to Keira Jones and Ronan Madley. She doesn't remember much of her mother, as Keira passed away a year later due to an infection that wasn't cured in time. The lack of a female influence and guardianship under a timid father has left its affect on her in subtle ways. She's always been a daddy's girl, and friendships are hard for her to make, mostly because she is shy and soft-spoken. Social interactions were difficult for her at a young age, though thankfully her experience at Hogwarts has made her more open, even if she is still rather calm. Laura was sorted into Hufflepuff and did rather well in all of her classes. Occasionally her professors worried over her too-quiet demeanor and inability to express herself verbally. At one point, autism was even considered. However, with therapy and much work over one summer, Laura discovered her love for writing. The medium allowed her enough freedom to be unafraid of consequences, one of the main problems that had made her so shy. Letters became journals which transformed into poetry, and in a strange twist of events, she found herself transforming her deepest emotions into songs. When a motley crew of musicians heard of her hobby, they invited her to join and create a band. This, along with her writing, allowed her to come out of her shell enough to make her first set of friends. Over the next two years they worked on putting their tracks together, and the band Amortentia debuted in Hogsmeade while Laura was in her sixth year. They were an immediate hit, and the group found themselves with a recording contract before they had even taken their OWLs. Laura's seventh year was strange—performing was something that liberated her, and allowed her to be something she wasn't. She took a persona onstage, and most of her fans assumed her to be rather abrasive and confident, which was directly the opposite. Amortentia was already wildly popular by the time she graduated Hogwarts. Two years have passed, and although Amortentia can't compare in popularity to the Weird Sisters, they have consistent hits and a large fan base. Currently they are touring Europe in concert with their new album release. Personality: Laura used to be painfully shy. Although she can get nervous around new people, life as a rock star has forced some changes on her. Large crowds don't affect her as badly as they used to, though thankfully she has men who protect her from crazed fans. For those who have met her or know her, Laura is soft-spoken, laid-back, and friendly. To her, the most important aspects of her life are her music, friends and family. Her father is a bit bewildered by her sudden stardom, for who ever expected a timid little girl like she to become a singer renown for her lackadaisical, bluntly honest lyrics? Her closest friends, her band mates, are always there for her. She hasn't let fame or success go to her head, because none of it really matters to her. She hadn't wanted or expected it in the first place. If it wasn't for those who keep her grounded, she could be in danger of floating aimlessly through life. Even though Laura has worked hard to overcome her problems, she still has a few deep-seeded issues. Thankfully they only emerge when she is under a lot of pressure. Affiliation during the First and/or Second War: Light Why?: Laura doesn't tolerate cruelty of any kind, and being part Muggle, she feels an affinity for their cause.
